The Europa posterior cervical system from MiRus was used in its first cases under CMS’ New Technology Add-on Payment, according to a Dec. 3 news release.

Europa earned NTAP earlier in 2025. The system is designed for the fusion of the cervical and upper thoracic spine.

“This low-profile system, built from next-generation alloys, allows me to instrument both C6 and C7 without having to choose which level to skip in challenging cervico-thoracic reconstructions,” Jose Canseco, MD, PhD, said in the release. “It lets me avoid bulky quad-rod constructs and cumbersome connectors, which consume valuable real estate in a highly constrained corridor. Instead, I can use a seamless 2.9 mm–to–4.5 mm transition rod, which is particularly advantageous in complex chin-on-chest deformity cases where every millimeter matters.”

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
