Minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgeon Kern Singh, MD, is pioneering the new technique for the system, according to a May 1 press release.
ESS is considered the next generation of minimally invasive spine surgery because it requires no incisions, allows for quicker patient recovery times and places just one to two small holes in the patient’s skin.
Most patients return home the same day with little or no pain medication, according to the release.
Dr. Singh was recently promoted to vice chair of clinical affairs and the director of the division of spine surgery in the department of orthopedic surgery at Rush.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
