Methodist Health System to open new hospital: 5 notes

The Texas-based Methodist Health System will open its new hospital in Southlake, Texas, according to D Healthcare Daily.

Here’s what you need to know:

 

1. Methodist paid $9 million to purchase the operational assets of the Southlake hospital from Forest Park Medical Center. Methodist assumed $8.6 million in debt during this transaction.

 

2. Methodist owns 51 percent of the company, while physician investors will own 49 percent.

 

3. Nueterra Healthcare, a healthcare facility management company, will operate the hospital as a joint venture.

 

4. The real estate investment trust Griffin-American Healthcare REIT has retained the hospital’s real estate, and will serve as the landlord.

 

5. This hospital is Methodist’s seventh acute care facility. Its specialties will include neurosurgery, orthopedics and pain management, among others.
