Through the partnership, Mayfield neurosurgeons can now perform emergency thrombectomies at St. Elizabeth’s Edgewood (Ky.) Hospital, saving stroke patients from having to be transported to a Cincinnati hospital for surgery.

Patients with neurovascular conditions such as unruptured brain aneurysms can also now receive elective, minimally invasive procedures in Kentucky, according to an Oct. 31 press release sent to Becker’s.

Mayfield neurosurgeons will perform the surgeries and lead interventional treatment, while St. Elizabeth specialists will ensure the full spectrum of neurovascular care is available.

St. Elizabeth has also invested in its neuro angiography biplane suite, adding three-dimensional biplane technology that includes two mobile cameras that allow for imaging of the brain from multiple perspectives. It helps clinicians track blood flow, identify blockages and pinpoint the location of aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
