Four things to know:
1. Candidates should have U.S. citizenship and must have a medical degree or doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from a VA-approved school.
2. Applicants must have a current, full and unrestricted license to practice in the U.S. Candidates must have completed residency training in a VA-approved specialty training program leading to eligibility for board-certification.
3. Two or more years of fellowship training in functional neurosurgery, pain and epilepsy surgery is preferred.
4. Other preferred qualifications include training in complex spine with a focus on deformity correction and tumor surgery, skull base and minimally invasive cranial surgery, functional neurosurgery and pituitary surgery.
