Here are five things to know:
1. The anonymous donation was gifted in honor of orthopedic spine surgeon Rolando M. Puno, MD, of Louisville, Ky.-based Norton Leatherman Spine Center.
2. Koasier Children’s Hospital will name the surgical unit funded by the donation after Dr. Puno.
3. The hospital will use the funds for new orthopedic and spine surgery equipment.
4. The donation will also help hire new specialists and expand specialty clinics.
5. Kosair Children’s Hospital serves more than 12,500 children yearly for orthopedic and spinal conditions.
