David Freeman, MD, of UofL Health Brain & Spine Institute performed the first case with the technology in September 2023, according to a July 22 news release. Elliquence provides direct visualization with scopes, and its technology has been used for other anatomical procedures.

The first Kentucky patient to have surgery with the technology went home 90 minutes after the procedure.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
