At 34 weeks pregnant, the mother alerted nurses at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, Ill., that something was wrong as her baby wasn’t moving in her womb like he typically did.
The jury found that hospital staff failed to notify a physician and neglected the boy’s oxygen levels for six hours, according to CBS 2.
The boy was born with severe brain damage in 2014. He cannot walk or speak and requires 24-hour care.
The jury found that the boy’s complications were a result of the hospital staff’s negligent behavior.
