Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Health System has named Amit Jain, MD, vice president of care transformation.

In the role, Dr. Jain will lead systemwide efforts to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, consistency and affordability of care across hospitals and ambulatory practices. He will partner with clinical teams to identify process gaps, strengthen care standards and support models aimed at reducing unwarranted variation and improving care value, according to an April 15 system news release.

Dr. Jain has served as medical director of value-based care over the past two years, leading initiatives to reduce readmissions, improve transitions of care and launch targeted quality improvement pilots.

He also serves as an associate professor of orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery and business at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and as chief of minimally invasive spine surgery. His research focuses on improving outcomes, safety and value in musculoskeletal care, and he has published more than 300 peer-reviewed articles.
