8 spine, orthopedic department leadership appointments

Eight physicians were named leaders of spine and orthopedic departments and programs in the last 60 days.

1. Chima Ohaegbulam, MD, was appointed chief of spine surgery at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston.

2. Sonia Eden, MD, was appointed head of adult neurosurgery at Detroit Medical Center.

3. Harvinder Sandhu, MD, co-chief of New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery Spine, has been selected to direct the augmented reality spine surgery program at Stamford (Conn.) Health's Bennett Medical Center.

4. Nader Nassif, MD, was elected division chief of joint replacement at Newport Beach, Calif.-based Hoag Orthopedic Institute.

5. Jeremy Smith, MD, was named Hoag Orthopedic Institute's division chief of surgical spine.

6. Michael Weiss, DO, was named chief of surgery and CMO at Boca Raton, Fla.-based iRise Spine and Joint.

7. Susan Bukata, MD, was named chair of the department of orthopedic surgery at University of California San Diego School of Medicine and UC San Diego Health.

8. Rajiv Rajani, MD, was appointed chair of orthopedics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso.
