Spine surgeon named director at California medical center

Amandeep Bhalla, MD, was named director of the Spine Center at MemorialCare's Long Beach (Calif.) Medical Center.

Dr. Bhalla will help align physician leadership, clinical outcomes and advanced technology in his new role, according to a March 3 news release. His expertise is in degenerative spine conditions, adult deformity and traumatic injuries. He also incorporates minimally invasive technology including Medtronic's O-arm and Globus Medical's ExcelsiusGPS.

"Dr. Bhalla is a generational talent who is well known in our community for providing compassionate and comprehensive spine care to patients," said Ike Mmeje, COO of Long Beach Medical Center.

Dr. Bhalla received his medical degree at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California Los Angeles and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Torrance, Calif.-based Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He completed the Harvard Combined Spine Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital, both in Boston.
