Dr. Richard Guyer details Tiger Woods' spinal fusion in Centinel Spine patient journey video

Centinel Spine has released a video outlining Tiger Wood's spine surgery and recovery with Richard Guyer, MD, of Plano-based Texas Back Institute.

Tiger Woods: Reborn centers around Mr. Woods' back and leg pain, his decision to undergo surgery and the road to recovery, which ultimately led to his 2019 Masters Tournament win after almost three years away from the sport.

Dr. Guyer performed a lumbar spinal fusion on Mr. Woods in 2017 to alleviate debilitating pain in his back and legs. He implanted Centinel Spine's STALIF M-Ti anterior lumbar integrated interbody fusion device.

The procedure allowed Mr. Woods to resume playing professional golf and led to him clinching his 15th PGA Tour major win — his first in 11 years. In 2021, he will be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.

"I think that he has shown the world that you can still have a single-level fusion and still do incredibly well," Dr. Guyer said. "Not everybody is going to go out and win the Masters, but nonetheless he has proven that you can get your life back."
