19 spine surgeon moves on the move in 2020

Here are 19 spine and neurosurgeons who joined new organizations, moved locations or received promotions so far this year:

1. Daniel Yoshor, MD, was appointed chair of the department of neurosurgery in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, effective July 1.

2. Lakeshore Orthopaedics in Manitowoc, Wis., onboarded Richard Manos, MD.

3. Frank Schwab, MD, was appointed vice chair of the New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery Innovation Institute.

4. Miami-based Baptist Health South Florida hired Michael McDermott, MD, as CMO of Miami Neuroscience Institute.

5. Brain and Spine Surgeons of New York in Harrison appointed Virany Hillard, MD, as medical director.

6. The Minimally Invasive Brain and Spine Center at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore hired neurosurgeon Joshua Lim, MD.

7. Neurosurgeon Brian Farrell, MD, is providing care at a new practice in Murray, Ky.

8. Keith Norvill, DO, joined CHI St. Vincent Neurosurgery Clinic in Hot Springs, Ark.

9. Hammond, La.-based North Oaks Neurosurgery Clinic hired Lon Alexander, MD.

10. Elizabeth Tyler-Kabara, MD, was appointed chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas in Austin.

11. Cape Fear Valley Neurosurgery in Fayetteville, N.C., hired Melissa Stamates, MD.

12. Ali Raja, MD, joined Arkansas Surgical Hospital in Little Rock.

13. Axis Spine Center, co-owned by Roland Kent, MD, is moving from Post Falls to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

14. Northern Rockies Orthopaedics in Missoula, Mont., onboarded Joel Torretti, MD.

15. Missoula (Mont.) Bone & Joint added Zackery Witte, MD, to its practice.

16. BoulderCentre for Orthopedics & Spine in Boulder, Colo., added Patrick Curry, MD, to its surgical team.

17. Mahesh Karandikar, MD, PhD, joined McLaren Flint (Mich.), a 278-bed hospital as part of Grand Blanc, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care.

18. AdventHealth Medical Group in Altamonte Springs, Fla., added Federico Vinas, MD.

19. Alejandro Castellvi, MD, joined Mercy Clinic Neurosurgery in Rogers, Ark.
