Five spine and neurosurgeons in the news over the past week.

Spinal Resources appointed Todd Abel, MD, as head of its scientific advisory board.

Michael Rohan, MD, and Douglas Stringer, MD, were featured in the Panama City News Herald discussing their use of the Mazor X Stealth Edition at Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center.

Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Alan Cohen, MD, was featured in a local Baltimore CBS news report for the special relationship he formed with a young patient whose life he helped save. The patient had a giant craniopharyngioma and underwent a nine-hour long procedure, in addition to two other surgeries.

Neurosurgeon Steven Kalkanis, MD, is slated to take over as CEO of Henry Ford Medical Group in Detroit and chief academic officer of the health system, in January. Crain’s Detroit Business profiled him last week and included his vision for the future.
