Scoliosis Research Society unveil winners of best research papers

The Scoliosis Research Society revealed the winners of the Russell A. Hibbs, John H. Moe & Louis A. Goldstein Awards.

The awards, named after pioneers in scoliosis surgery, are presented to the best basic research and clinical research papers.

Here are the winning papers:

1. Russell A. Hibbs Best Basic Research Paper Award: 'A Multi-ethnic Meta-analysis Defined the Association of rs12946942 with Progression of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis,' by Kazuki Takeda, MD, PhD, Nao Otomo, MD, et al.

2. Russell A. Hibbs Best Clinical Research Paper Award: 'Using Humerus Ossification and Cobb Angle to Predict Progression to Surgery in Scoliosis Patients,' by Don Li, Jonathan Cui, MD, et al.

3. John H. Moe Best Basic Research Poster Award: 'Dynamic Spine Posture in Adolescents Idiopathic Scoliosis Patients,' by Sebastien Pesenti, MD, PhD, Solène Prost, MD, et al.

4. Louis A. Goldstein Best Clinical Research Poster Award: 'Preoperative Halo Skeletal Traction for Severe Scoliosis,' by Chang Ju Hwang, MD, PhD, Dong-Gyun Kim, MD et al.

The winners were unveiled at the Scoliosis Research Society Annual Meeting in Montreal, Canada, from Sept. 18 to 21.
