Spine surgeons from the department of orthopedics at Emory University School of Medicine recently published a textbook on their approaches to spinal disorders.

The textbook is titled "Emory University Spine — Illustrated Tips and Tricks in Spine Surgery" and provides illustrated descriptions of methods used by the university's physicians to perform spine surgeries.

Spine fellows and physicians of the Emory Orthopaedics & Spine Center collaborated to write each of the book's 40 chapters, which demonstrates technical details of each spine procedure.

Each chapter guides the reader through key imaging findings to consider when operating, lists equipment necessary, outlines surgery steps and conditions to look out for postoperatively.

"My hope is that this will be the go-to book for anyone wanting technical details on performing spine surgery, from orthopedic and neurosurgical spine fellows and residents to practicing spine surgeons," said John Rhee, MD, editor of the book and professor of orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery at Emory.
