Dr. Richard Wohns appointed to Washington Medical Commission

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has appointed Richard Wohns, MD, to the Washington Medical Commission.

Dr. Wohns is a spine and neurosurgeon, and founder of Neospine, a Puyallup, Wash.-based spine practice that includes an ASC. He has previous experience as president of the Western Neurosurgical Society and vice president of the Washington State Association of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Wohns has also served on committees for the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, including the ethics committee and the professional conduct committee.

Dr. Wohns is also the founder of the Mazama Spine Summit, an event founded in 2003 as a think tank for outpatient spine surgery leaders.

As an appointee to the commission, Dr. Wohns will serve a four-year term. The commission includes 21 members. There are 13 physicians appointed, one for each of the 10 congressional district, as well as three at-large appointees. The commission aims to promote patient safety and integrity of the medical profession.
