4 spine & neurosurgeons recently receiving honors — May

Here are four spine and neurosurgeons who recently received honors, awards or promotions in May.

Board-certified neurosurgeon Jeffrey S. Oppenheim, MD, at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, N.Y., was honored with the Sister Joseph Rita Award for Medical Excellence.

Orthopedic surgeon and medical director of the spine program at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Dennis Devito, MD, won the Physician Award for the 2019 Health Care Heroes Awards.

Attending neurosurgeon at Neurological Surgery PC in New Hyde Park, N.Y., Robert N. Holtzman, MD, was selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Top Professionals for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the field.

John Wilson, MD, the David L. and Sally Kelly Professor and vice chair of the department of neurological surgery at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., was named president-elect of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
