OSU medical center names Dr. Benjamin Segal neurology chairman, co-director of neurological institute: 4 notes

Columbus-based The Ohio State University College of Medicine appointed Benjamin Segal, MD, as chair of neurology and co-director of the university's Wexner Medical Center Neurological Institute in Columbus.

Here are four things to know:

1. Dr. Segal is a neurology professor at Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan. He also serves as director of the university's multiple sclerosis center and neuroimmunology program.

2. Dr. Segal will officially join The Ohio State University in July 2019.

3. With expertise in multiple sclerosis, Dr. Segal has directed numerous clinical trials focused on individuals with progressive forms and relapsing MS. The National Institutes of Health has provided him more than $1.3 million in funding for his research programs.

4. After earning his medical degree from Brown University School of Medicine in Providence, R.I., Dr. Segal completed his residency at New York City-based Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
