1. Orthofix's business is structured around two pillars: Spine and Extremities. The Orthofix Spine business includes Bone Growth Stimulation Therapy, Biologics and Spinal Implants.Orthofix Extremities is comprised of products for Pediatric and Deformity correction, Foot & Ankle and Trauma.

2. In April, Orthofix acquired Spinal Kinetics, a privately held company focused on artificial cervical and lumbar discs, for $45 million in cash plus up to an additional $60 million in future contingent milestone payments related to U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval of the M6-CTM cervical disc. The M6-C cervical and the M6-LTM lumbar discs currently have CE Mark approval for distribution in Europe and other international geographies.

3. Orthofix reported $443.8 million in net sales for the full year of 2017. This is up 5.9 percent compared to 2016. The company's spine fixation line saw net sales of $82 million in 2017, an 8.3 percent jump year-over-year. CEO Brad Mason said, “With 2017 in the rear-view mirror, we are now focused fully on executing our 2018 global and business unit strategies. Globally, we expect to drive shareholder value through three pillars: topline organic growth better than market growth rates, margin expansion through operational improvements and strategic deployment of our capital that we believe will accelerate topline growth in our core business.”

4. In March, Orthofix announced publication of new data that further confirms the effectiveness of the CervicalStimTM device in improving fusion rates in patients at high risk for ACDF surgery failure.

While collaborating with approximately 81 clinical study sites, Orthofix currently has more than 1,200 patients enrolled in clinical studies involving the use of its Bone Growth Stimulation products to treat rotator cuff repair, odontoid fractures and osteo-arthritis, as well as studies involving the use of Trinity ELITETM allograft in spinal fusion surgery. Orthofix has worked with various universities, health care facilities and academic medical centers that service as clinical study sites.

6. Brad Mason serves as the president and CEO of Orthofix. He became CEO in March 2013 after serving as the company's group president of North America.

7. Within its Bone Growth Therapy segment, Orthofix's osteogenesis stimulators are designed to provide patients with safe, non-surgical treatment options to heal nonunion fractures and promote spinal fusion. The devices are accompanied by the STIM onTrackTM mobile app that was launched in 2017 to aid in patient adherence to their prescription.

8. Orthofix and its tissue partner, MTF Biologics, have been at the forefront of cellular allograft technology since 2009 with the launch of the Trinity EvolutionTM allograft, and they collaborated to provide the Trinity ELITE allograft with FiberLockTM technology in 2013, introducing the first moldable cellular allograft to the market. Together, there have been more than 200,000 procedures recorded to date between the two grafts.

9. Orthofix Spinal Implants' fastest growing product line in recent years has been its PTC interbody portfolio. PTC (PEEK-Titanium Composite) products are a unique technology proprietary to Orthofix, where 3D printed endplates are molded into PEEK. An article specific to ForzaTM PTC, was recently released in The Spine Journal entitled, “Evaluation of a Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) Titanium Composite Interbody Spacer in an Ovine Lumbar Interbody Fusion Model: Biomechanical, Microcomputed Tomographic, and Histologic Analyses.”

10. Today, Orthofix provides products in more than 70 countries. The device company employs approximately 900 staff and has its corporate headquarters in Lewisville, Texas.
