Neurosurgery comes to New York hospital with surgeon addition: 5 things to know

Lowville, N.Y.-based Lewis County General Hospital welcomed Nicholas Qandah, DO, and in doing so made neurosurgery services available, according to Journal & Republican.

Here are five things to know:

1. Dr. Qandah treats patients at the Central New York Brain & Spine Neurosurgery Comprehensive Spine Center on the hospital's main campus.

2. After earning his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Ill., Dr. Qandah completed his residency at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Va.

3. Dr. Qandah underwent dual fellowship training in orthopedics and neurosurgery at the University of Washington-Harborview in Seattle.

4. He is the chair of the American Board of Osteopathic Surgery's neurosurgical section.

5. Board-certified in neurosurgery, Dr. Qandah has more than 15 years of experience. He specializes in spinal injuries, spinal tumors, minimally invasive surgery and regenerative spine procedures.
