Board-certified neurosurgeon Roland Torres, MD, joined the University of Miami Health System.

Here are three things to know:

1. Specializing in neurotrauma and neurocritical care, Dr. Torres comes to UM Health from Stanford (Calif.) Health Care.

2. Dr. Torres received his medical degree from Universidad Central del Este in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, and underwent neuro-oncology fellowship training at UC San Francisco Neurosurgery.

3. Dr. Torres' research involves traumatic brain injury treatment.
