The Anand Spine Group enrolls 1st patient into study of Premia Spine's TOPS System: 3 insights

The Anand Spine Group in Los Angeles enrolled the first patient into a study of Premia Spine's TOPS System, which is designed to treat degenerative Grade 1 spondylolisthesis and spinal stenosis.

Here are three things to know:

1. The TOPS System is an alternative to rigid fixation with a mechanical implant that is designed to allow two adjoining vertebrae to continue moving naturally after a decompression.

2. The Anand Spine Group is one of 30 spine centers throughout the U.S. participating in the FDA study. Patients will either undergo surgery with the TOPS System or traditional lumbar spinal fusion.

3. Neel Anand, MD, clinical professor and director of spine trauma at Cedars-Sinai Spine Center in Los Angeles, leads The Anand Spine Group.
