Specialists earn an average salary of $329,000 in 2018, up from $316,000 in 2017, and primary care physicians earn an average salary of $223,000, up from $217,000. Stryker employee admits to accepting $75k bribe to secure contract
Alleged Stryker employee Daniel Lawrynowicz pled guilty to one count of violating the Federal Travel Act, according to Patch. Eugene Ostrovsky sought out a $5.5 million contract with Stryker. He and two other individuals paid Mr. Lawrynowicz bribes to secure the contract. The Stryker employee faces five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He must also return the $75,000 bribe. Larry Nassar fined $1M, medical license permanently revoked
The Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery permanently revoked Larry Nassar's medical license and fined him $1 million, wlns.com reports. Mr. Nassar had his license temporarily revoked in January 2017.
US Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams issues advisory on opioid overdose-reversing drug
On April 5, U.S. Surgeon General Jerome M. Adams, MD, issued an advisory on HHS.gov regarding naloxone. The advisory urged more Americans to carry naloxone, an opioid overdose-reversing drug. Every state has expanded access to naloxone, and many passed laws that protect healthcare professionals prescribing the drug and citizens who administer the drug to those in an emergency.
