32 spine, neurosurgeon moves in the first quarter of 2018

Here are 32 spine and neurosurgeons that joined new organizations, moved locations or received promotions in the first quarter of 2018.

January

Roderick Claybrooks, MD, joined Tampa, Fla.-based BioSpine Institute.

Tampa, Fla.-based Physician Partners of American welcomed minimally invasive spine surgeon James St. Louis, DO.

Kirkland, Wash.-based EvergreenHealth welcomed Dustin Hayward, MD, to its spine and neurosurgical team.

Brunswick-based Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Neurosciences welcomed Justin S. Whitlow, MD.

Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Medical Group welcomed five neurosurgeons to Park Ridge, Ill.-based Advocate Lutheran General Hospital:

  • Jonathan Liu, MD
  • Patrick Sugrue, MD
  • Robert Givens Kellogg, MD

Spine surgeon Jason Kelly, MD, joined Fargo, N.D.-based Essentia Health-32nd Avenue Clinic.

HaysMed of the University of Kansas Health System added spine surgeon Max Franco De Carvalho, MD.

John S. Kuo, MD, PhD, will serve as the inaugural neurosurgery chair of the Mulva Clinic for the Neurosciences at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School.

UC San Diego Health selected Alexander Khalessi, MD, to serve as its neurosurgery chair. He will also serve as chief of neurosurgery at UC San Diego School of Medicine.

Neurosurgeon Adesh Tandon, MD, joined the neurosurgery department at Binghamton, N.Y.-based United Health Services Hospitals.

February

Mark Dekutoski, MD, joined the Marshfield Clinic Eau Claire (Wis.) Center's orthopedic surgery department. He specializes in adult and pediatric minimally invasive spine deformity, including scoliosis, kyphosis, spine tumors, spondylolisthesis and disc degeneration.

Jeffrey Beecher, DO, joined Wilmington, N.C.-based Atlantic Neurosurgical & Spine Specialists. With Dr. Beecher, Atlantic Neurosurgical & Spine Specialists can offer patients who suffer strokes, aneurysms, brain tumors and other blood vessel abnormalities treatment options.

Milford (Mass.) Regional Medical Center welcomed three neurosurgeons Timothy Smith, MD, PhD, Hasan Zaidi, MD, and Omar Arnaout, MD, to its staff. The neurosurgeons joined Milford Regional Medical Center after opening the Brigham and Women's Neurosurgery of Milford (Mass.).

James Harris, MD, senior member of Western Surgical Group, and Lori Rawson, MD, chief of surgery at VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System, will co-chair the new orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery department at University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine.

Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine, welcomed Nicolas Arredondo, MD, to its staff at Maine Spine Surgery. Dr. Arredondo's interests include traumatic, metastatic and degenerative spine pathology.

Grand Junction, Colo.-based Community Hospital is welcoming two surgeons to open a new orthopedic spine surgery program. Kirk Clifford, MD, and James Gebhard, MD, are joining the hospital to jumpstart an orthopedic spine surgery service line.

March

Stanford (Calif.) University School of Medicine appointed Odette Harris, MD, as a neurosurgery professor. She is the first African-American neurosurgery professor at Stanford.

Orthopedic spine surgeon Keith Wilkey, MD, joined Bradford (Pa.) Regional Medical Center, Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital and Smethport, Pa.-based Foothills Medical Group,.

Jean-Pierre Mobasser, MD, was elected to serve as president of Indianapolis-based Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine.

Intraoperative neuromonitoring services provider Assure Holdings added orthopedic spine surgeon Jeffrey Ratusznik, MD, to its Texas network.

Kirk Clifford, MD, and James Gebhard, MD, joined Community Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., and created an orthopedic spine surgery program.

Physician Partners of America welcomed Stefan Pribil, MD, who specializes in stem cell and biologics for neuroregeneration, minimally invasive spinal reconstruction and laser-assisted spine procedures.

Brett G. Menmuir, MD, joined Laser Spine Institute's Scottsdale, Ariz., location. He specializes in minimally invasive techniques for spine and sacroiliac joint fusions, motion preservation surgery, pain management and orthopedic procedures.
