Jean-Pierre Mobasser, MD, was elected to serve as president of Indianapolis-based Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine. He is the third president of the practice.

Here are five things to know.

 

1. Dr. Mobasser is a board certified neurosurgeon specializing in image-guided spinal navigation and minimally invasive spine surgery, and he has lectured all over the world on these subjects. He is an assistant professor of clinical neurological surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine in Bloomington.

 

2. He has also served as an unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant to the NFL for the past three years, and he is currently the team neurosurgeon for the Indiana Pacers.

 

3. Dr. Mobasser received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and underwent complex spine surgery fellowship training at the University of Tennessee Semmes Murphey Clinic in Memphis.

 

4. Dr. Mobasser will serve a three-year term, replacing neurosurgeon Mitesh Shah, MD, who held the position for six years. Dr. Shah will continue to practice with Goodman Campbell.

 

5. As president, Dr. Mobasser will also serve as the vice chair of the IU neurological surgery department and be responsible for recruiting physicians to Goodman Campbell.
