Dr. Jim Maxwell seeks New York Congress seat: 5 highlights

Neurosurgeon Jim Maxwell, MD, is running for a seat in the House of Representative as a republican, according to WXXI News.

Here are five highlights:


1. Dr. Maxwell is seeking a seat in New York's 25th district, hoping to replace Democratic Congresswoman Louise Slaughter.


2. He serves as division head of neurological surgery at Rochester (N.Y.) General Hospital.


3. Dr. Maxwell said he is seeking election due to his disappointment with Congress.


4. He specializes in peripheral nerve surgery, spine surgery, Trigeminal Neuralgia and brain tumors.


5. Dr. Maxwell completed his fellowship at New York City-based Neurological Institute of New York and London-based The National Hospital Queens Square.
