Dr. Andrew Sloan honored for neurosurgery contributions: 7 highlights

Marquis Who's Who recognized Andrew E. Sloan, MD, for his neurosurgery career, according to The Daily Telescope.

Here are seven highlights:

 

1. Dr. Sloan was on the front lines of developing brain tumor immunotherapy as well as Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy.

 

2. He researches brain tumors, convection-enhanced delivery, gamma knife and cyberknife stereotactic radiosurgery, image-guided neurosurgery, neurosurgery, skull-base surgery, stereotactic surgery and tumor vaccines.

 

3. Dr. Sloan is a professor and vice chair of neurological surgery at Cleveland-based Case Western Reserve University.

 

4. He also founded a company for brain tumor surgery simulations.

 

5. Dr. Sloan was a former president of the Ohio State Neurological Society.

 

6. He competed a neurosurgery fellowship at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

 

7. Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes award those based on "position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in a field," The Daily Telescope reports.
