Information analytics company Elsevier launched the Opioid Epidemic Resource Center.

Here are five insights:

 

1. The Opioid Epidemic Resource Center features content from Elsevier's medical journal, textbooks and clinical resources.

 

2. Elsevier hopes to help providers understand the impact of the opioid epidemic as well as highlight the wealth of information Elsevier has to offer.

 

3. President Donald Trump declared the opioid epidemic a public health emergency Oct. 26.

 

4. Elsevier reported about 21 percent to 29 percent of patients with opioid prescriptions misuse them.

 

5. The company notes between 8 and 12 percent of patients with opioid prescriptions develop an opioid use disorder.
