Spine surgery specialist Michael Mauro, DO, joined Healthpointe in La Mirada, Calif.

1. Dr. Mauro specializes in foraminotomy, kyphoplasty, laminectomy, lumbar laminectomy, lumbar spine fusion, spinal fusion surgery, cervical decompression, cervical fusion, and lumbar spinal injections.
2. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics and American Osteopathic Association.
3. Dr. Mauro's research in minimizing the risk of retropharyngeal hematoma after anterior cervical spine injury and screw removal complications with lock plates was published in the Internet Journal of Surgery.
4. Dr. Mauro underwent fellowship training at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
5. After earning his doctorate of osteopathic medicine degree from Kirksville (Mo.) College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Mauro completed his residency at Grandview Hospital and Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio.
