NewYork-Presbyterian receives $25M gift and renames The Spine Hospital — 5 highlights

New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian renamed The Spine Hospital after receiving a $25 million donation from Daniel and Jane Och.

Here are five highlights:

 

1. The hospital will now bear the name, Daniel and Jane Och Spine Hospital at NewYork-Presbyterian.

 

2. Steven J. Corwin, MD, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian, commented in a press release, The Daniel and Jane Och Spine Hospital will raise the bar for spine care, providing services for "common disorders to the rarest, most complex conditions."

 

3. NewYork-Presbyterian opened its spine hospital in 2015, after recruiting Lawrence Lenke, MD, K. Daniel Riew, MD, and Ronald Lehman, Jr., MD, to head it.

 

4. The comprehensive spine hospital leverages the knowledge of neurosurgeons, orthopedics surgeons and physiatrists.

 

5. Longtime supporter of NewYork-Presbyterian, Mr. Och has served as a hospital trustee since 2005.
