Study: 1-2 minutes of high-intensity exercise daily improves women's bone health: 3 things to know

Spine

England-based University of Exeter researchers examined the role exercise plays in maintaining bone health in women.

The study involved more than 2,500 women. Researchers measured activity with bone health.

Here are three things to know:

1. The study revealed women who participated in stints of high-intensity, weight-bearing activity equivalent to a medium-paced jog experienced better bone health.

2. Specifically, those women who performed one to two minutes of high-intensity, weight-bearing exercise daily saw 4 percent better bone health.

3. Women who did high-intensity, weight-bearing exercise for more than two minutes daily had 6 percent better bone health.
