Total disc replacement book ranked Amazon's #1 international bestseller — 4 details

Spine

To Fuse or Not to Fuse: How Artificial Disc Replacement, Hybrid Fusion, and Fusion Alternatives are Changing the World of Spinal Fusion, by Karsten Ritter-Lang, MD, and Jan Spiller, MD, has become an Amazon #1 bestseller.

Here are four things to know:

1. The book's Kindle version became an Amazon #1 bestseller on March 9 after reaching #1 in four categories in the U.S., three categories in Canada and three categories in Germany. The book has also been featured as the #1 bestseller in Australia in the categories of orthopedic surgery and more.

2. Dr. Ritter-Lang and Dr. Spiller wrote the book to educate the world about total disc replacement's benefits and catalogue the various prostheses available to patients and surgeons.

3. Dr. Ritter-Land said, "While spinal fusion has its place…the statistics show a very high rate of failures at adjacent levels following fusion. With disc replacement, we can help people get back to their normal lives, often completely free of pain."

4. Both surgeons perform disc replacement surgeries at German hospitals, operating on patients from all over the world and educating other spine surgeons on surgical and rehabilitative techniques.
