Medacta International hired S. Raymond Golish, MD, PhD, as medical director of the company's U.S. spine division.

1. Dr. Golish is a spinal surgeon, medical device and data scientist who comes with extensive experience as a healthcare administrator and executive.
2. Dr. Golish's role will be to support Medacta's spine product development and commercial activities.
3. In a statement, Francesco Siccardi, Medacta's executive vice president, said the company values Dr. Golish's "dedication to patient safety and the role that medical device innovation can play in improving life."
4. Medacta enjoyed a successful 2016, when the spine division experienced underwent 140 percent sales growth. The company has grown at least 24 percent in the last five consecutive quarters.
5. Medacta released three new products in 2016, including the MySpine Low Profile Guide, which Dr. Golish used soon after it passed FDA clearance.
