Here are four spine and neurosurgeons in the headlines for the week ending on Dec. 2, 2016.

Anthony Leone, MD, performed the first robotic spine surgery in western New York at Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph campus in Cheektowaga.

 

Orthopedic spine surgeon Kam Raiszadeh, MD, wrote a book titled, "Take Back Control: A Surgeon's Guide to Healing Your Spine Without Medications or Surgery," as chronic back pain continues to gain prevalence globally.

 

Tupelo, Miss.-based neurosurgeon Walter Eckman, MD, retired after more than 40 years in neurosurgery.

 

Vishad Sukul, MD, joined Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center's neurosurgery department.
