Operative Neurosurgery appointed David Langer, MD, chief of neurosurgery at New York City-based Lenox Hill Hospital, to its editorial board.

 

CBS featured Ashraf Hanna, MD, and Scott Webb, DO, both of Clearwater-based Florida Spine Institute, speaking on artificial disc replacement.

 

Aaron K. Calodney, MD, of Tyler, Texas-based Precision Spine Care, is the new president of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

 

The Expert Network added Alexios G. Carayannopoulos, DO, of Providence-based Rhode Island Hospital.

 

Jacksonville, Fla.-based Mayo Clinic appointed Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa, MD, the William J. and Charles H. Mayo Professor and neurological surgery chair.

The International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery presented awards at its 16th annual meeting in Las Vegas:

 

Jeffrey Spivak, MD, of New York University, received The ISASS Leon Wiltse Award for Best Overall Paper.
Sudarshan Pramod, MBBS, MS, of Chennai, India-based Apollo Hospital, won The Charles D. Ray Award for Best Clinical Paper.
Matthew Scott-Young, MBBS, FRACS, FAOrthA, of Southport, Queensland, Australia-based Gold Coast Spine, received the Kostuik Innovation Award.
