Adolescent scoliosis patients protected from excess radiation: 3 insights

A new low-dose X-ray machine reduces the radiation risk for adolescent scoliosis patients, according to WRAL.com.

Here are three insights:

 

1. The EOS imaging system scans patients in the upright weight-bearing position.

 

2. The system captures images at one-tenth the amount of radiation as a traditional X-ray machine.

 

3. It is intended to provide an enhanced image of the spine.
