UCLA's Operation Mend serves veterans with brain injuries, PTSD: 5 highlights

UCLA's Operation Mend is now serving veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress and mild traumatic brain injuries, according to Los Angeles Daily News.

Here are five highlights:

 

1. The program's expansion will now include UCLA's experts in neurology, psychiatry, neurosurgery and integrative medicine.

 

2. Operation Mend is aiming to serve veterans suffering from "the hidden wounds of war."

 

3. Operation Mend's six-week program will help both veterans and their families with their psychological needs through healing medicine.

 

4. So far, four veterans and their families have participated in the program and 10 more will begin in May.

 

5. The program is offered at no cost to participants and UCLA expects 80 veterans to participate each year.
