Here are nine spine surgeons and neurosurgeons who recently received awards or promotions.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons appointed Neel Anand, MD, of Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai Spine Center, to serve on its Spine Program Committee.

 

Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa, MD, inspired a new Disney movie, Dr. Q.

 

National Consumer Advisory Board included Mark Testaiuti, MD, of Mount Laurel, N.J.-based Coastal Spine, in its "America's Best Physicians" registry for 2016.

 

New York-based Nexera consulting group added neurosurgeon Marilyn Gates, MD, to its clinical value analysts team.

 

Michael Gleiber, MD, founder of Michael Gleiber, MD, PA Concierge Spine Surgery in Boca Raton, Fla., is now a brand ambassador for Rolls Royce.

 

James L. Chappuis, MD, senior surgeon and CEO of SpineCenterAtlanta, and his colleagues created a poster for the Orthopaedic Research Society 2016 Annual Meeting earlier this month, which won the best poster award.

 

Justin S. Field, MD, an orthopedic spine surgeon with Desert Institute for Spine Care in Phoenix, has joined The Expert Network.

 

Omaha-based University of Nebraska Medical Center awarded William Thorell, MD, the Lyal G. Leibrock, M.D. Chair of Neurosurgery.

 

Neal F. Kassell, MD, of Charlottesville-based University of Virginia, has been selected to serve on The National Cancer Institute's Blue Ribbon Panel for Vice President Joe Biden's National Cancer Moonshot Initiative.
