Dr. Andrew Moulton performs free spine surgery in the Dominican Republic: 5 things to know

Andrew Moulton, MD, recently returned from a week-long mission trip in the Dominican Republic, according to a Bradenton Herald report.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Dr. Mouton is co-founder and president of the Butterfly Foundation, a charity organization.

 

2. He travels with his team to developing countries several times each year to perform spinal surgeries and instruct spine surgeons in those countries.

 

3. Dr. Moulton is a practicing spine surgeon at Sarasota (Fla.) Orthopedic Associates. He is also director of the Scoliosis Clinic at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y.

 

4. He completed his spine surgery fellowship at NYU's Hospital for Joint Disease.

 

5. He is committee chairman of the North American Spine Society's Spine Care Relief United Beyond Borders.
