Neurosurgeon Dr. Steven Gill turns to petroleum engineers for ideas on tumor treatment: 4 notes

Spine

Neurosurgeon Steven Gill, MB, of the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, plans to speak with petroleum engineers to advance treatment of adolescent brain tumors, according to Energy Voice.

Here are four notes:

1. Dr. Gill plans to meet with engineers form BP North Sea, Westerton UK, Precision Oil Tools, Axis Well Technology and Well-SENSE Technology.

2. He sees a correlation between his convection-enhanced delivery system, which pushes drugs into the brain through micro-catheters connected by a port attached to the skull, and methods used to extract oil and gas.

3. Dr. Gill hopes meeting with the petroleum engineers will shed light on how to advance his CED system, as their methods for oil and gas extraction are on a larger scale and more advanced.

4. He plans to use his newfound knowledge during a clinical trial of children with incurable brain tumors.
