Here are eight spine surgeons and neurosurgeons in the news this past week.

Orthopedic surgeon Steven Meier, MD, performed the first stem cell/platelet-rich plasma lumbar intradiscal injection in conjunction with La Peer Health Systems.

 

The Medical Tourism Association honored Daniel Kelly, MD, for excellence in international oncology. He is the director of the Brain Tumor Center at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif.

 

Gateway Medical Center, in Clarksville, Tenn., revealed its neuro-suite led by Robert Bejnarowicz, DO.

 

Neurosurgeons Brian McHugh, MD, and Gail Rosseau, MD, joined Woodbridge, Va.-based Inova Medical Group. The Inova Neuroscience and Spine Institute welcomes the two neurosurgeons to its team.

 

Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., welcomed neurosurgeon Charles Wolff, MD, to its team.

 

Neurosurgeon Christopher Loftus, MD, of Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill. will serve on a Food and Drug Administration advisory committee.

 

Ali Araghi, DO, was the first surgeon to utilize Xtant Medical's OsteoSelect PLUS Demineralized Bone Matrix Putty in a spinal fusion procedure.
