Spine Team Texas Southlake was the first healthcare organization in North Texas to implant the Senza spinal cord stimulator in a patient.
Here are five things to know:
1. Amit Darnule, MD, performed the surgery and implanted the Senza SCS system.
2. Nevro's proprietary HF10 therapy, the Senza SCS system was FDA-approved in May 2015.
3. The system provides pain relief without paresthesia, a common side effect of traditional SCS.
4. It is the only implantable SCS system with labeling for 3T conditional MRI compatibility.
5. After receiving his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Dr. Darnule did an internship in internal medicine, residency in anesthesiology and fellowship in multidisciplinary pain medicine at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University.
"The results of the SENZA-RCT have shown that this therapy offers more pain relief than traditional therapy, and I'm excited to offer HF10 therapy as an option for our patients," said Dr. Darnule.
