Spine surgeon Alan S. Hilibrand, MD, will be featured in the book Top Doctors: Experts in Medicine.

He was chosen from more than 600,000 members worldwide to be featured in the book. The book will include a biographical narrative and Q&A section based on an interview with Dr. Hilibrand.

 

Here are five things to know about Dr. Hilibrand:

 

1. He is the president of the Cervical Spine Research Society and chair of the communications cabinet and board member for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

 

2. Dr. Hilibrand is the vice chair of academic affairs for Jefferson Medical College's department of orthopedic surgery.

 

3. He has been in practice for 20 years and is board-certified in orthopedic surgery.

 

4. Dr. Hilibrand is a professor of orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery as well as the Director of Medical Education for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Rothman Institute and Jefferson Medical College.

 

5. Dr. Hilibrand earned his medical degree at Yale University's School of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Michigan Health System and a fellowship in spine and spinal cord injury at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
