ISASS names Dr. Hee Kit Wong co-president — 5 things to know

Singapore's Hee Kit Wong, MD, PhD, was named the new co-president of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery for 2015-2016.

Gunnar B.J. Andersson, MD, PhD, will remain co-president of the organization for the next year as well. Here are five things to know about Dr. Wong:

 

1. He is the chairman of the spine section of the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association.

 

2. Dr. Wong is the chair of the University of Orthopaedics Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery Cluster, National University Health System. He is also head of the department of orthopedics and division of spine surgery.

 

3. In addition to his clinical practice, he is on the international editorial board for the Journal of Orthopaedic Science of the Japanese Orthopaedic Association and a reviewer for several medical journals.

 

4. He has earned research grants for projects such as curve progression in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and biological factors in the interbody spine fusion space.

 

5. Dr. Wong trained at the Osaka University Medical School in Japan.
