Dr. Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa earns honorary degree from Notre Dame University

Johns Hopkins Hospital Professor of Neurosurgery and Oncology Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa, MD, earned an honorary degree from Notre Dame University, according to a South Bend Tribune report.

Dr. Quinones-Hinojosa is also the director of the brain tumor surgery program at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Born in Mexico, he migrated to the United States and worked as a farm hand to earn money to take English classes and later earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School.

 

He has a special interest in treating primary and metastatic brain tumors as well as motor and speech mapping during surgery. His research focuses on improving patient safety while maximizing efficiency and stem cells in relation to brain tumor origination.

 

He completed a neurosurgery residency and fellowship at the University of California San Francisco.
