8 legislative items AANS/CNS will hit in 2015

The American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons released the 2015 legislative agenda for health policy action items for the new Congress.

The agenda includes:

 

1. Abolishing the Independent Payment Advisory Board.
2. Supporting quality resident training and education.
3. Continuing progress with medical innovation.
4. Alleviating the medical liability crisis.
5. Funding efforts to preserve and enhance access to trauma and emergency care.
6. Moving Medicare to a defined contribution system.
7. Championing an improved Medicare physician payment system.
8. Restructuring and streamlining quality improvement programs.

 

Yesterday, the federal government announced plans to accelerate value-based payments for Medicare patients and people covered under government-run healthcare plans.
