Dallas-based North American Spine is celebrating six years of a minimally invasive spine surgery meant to treat chronic back pain.

Called "AccuraScope," more than 8,000 procedures have been performed by board-certified physicians with specialty training in interventional pain management since January 2009.

"We are pleased with the success we've seen from the AccuraScope procedure," said Darren Schuhmacher, MD, anesthesiologist. "North American Spine's treatments are an exciting and innovative step that will, for many people, provide lasting relief."

Medical research has shown the procedure has an 82 percent success rate and saves a patient, on average, more than $23,000 over five years by reducing costs like physician visits and medications.
