CELLING Treatment Center, based in Austin, Texas, has announced it will now provide stem cell treatments and therapies to patients with common back and spinal disorders as an alternative to standard orthopedic surgery, according to a news release.

"Stem cell science has now advanced to the point where clinical applications in orthopedic and spinal surgery are now a reality," said Mark A. Flood, MD, chief surgeon and medical director of CELLING Treatment Center, according to the release. Dr. Flood has a background in minimally invasive spine surgery, such as endoscopic and laser spine surgery.

CELLING treatment center uses orthopedic stem cell technology to treat aging and injured patients. Stem cells are able to self-renew and divide over time, which means the cells can regenerate in a new implant location. These cells include cardiac, liver, bone, nerve and connective tissue placement.
