Dr. Pimenta earned his medical degree from the University of São Paulo Medical School and completed his neurosurgery residency at Paulista Medical School, both in Brazil. Dr. Pimenta holds a fellowship in spinal endoscopic surgery.
He is currently the clinical director of the minimally invasive spine surgery department at the Instituto de Patologia de Coluna, Brazil and an associate professor at the University of California San Diego.
In addition to his role at ISASS, Dr. Pimenta is the president of the World Spinal Column Society and International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery.
